Dragged Myself From Depths of the Shadow Realm

Sun Sep 5, 2004, 1:30 PM
Once again I find myself crawling from the depts of darkness; but now I find myself without all new and cool stuff I added to my laptop since my first data back-up. And my the progress I made on my latest artwork.

My laptop was having a overheating problem (that and my laptop couldn't recognize my new scanner), so I took it in for repairs.

A Toshiba employee on the phone suggested I take it to company to that was under contract with Toshiba, and repairs computers for them. It so close I was able to drop it off and pick it up, instead of it being shipped. The guy, who works in laptop repair, was really nice. Turns out there was A LOT of dust in it, which ruined and seperated various parts. He showed my dad and me a tiny ziplock baggy with large clomps of duts it. He said there was "20 times the amount in this baggy." And if I sent it to Toshiba directly, they wouldn't have honored my 1 year warranty saying that I was be negligent, and make me pay for the repairs. If it were at cost of parts alone, it would have cost me $800. Dude! No wonder it took so long. At least he wasn't upset for the amount of work. He was happy to work on something that was a challenge.

If only I would have known I would have lost my data. (It almost made me want to crawl into a corner and cry.) If I did, I would have burned small back-up cds intead of attempting to burn big one's and fail.

The only real thing that upsets me is that loss of my Gundam Girl and other related cosplay styled pics. And my the progress of my latest artwork.

And now I'm on a quest to rebuild what I've lost. Wish me luck.
